MakeZen Blog- Reflections on Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation

Why MakeZen?

Zen is the balance, peace, the energy source of life. “Make” implies an action. MakeZen symbolizes the process of finding and creating balance and peace in our lives. The process is dynamic and challenging but it is worth trying. When Zen is acknowledged within us, it will manifest in a way where life will be created through peace and harmony. True change can only begin to happen from within. Therefore Make Zen is needed when we want to create a sustainable lifestyle which will contribute to the creation of a peaceful and sustainable world.

Make Zen is chosen as a name because I believe that we need to take the responsibility to connect to the Zen within ourselves in order to find the strength to fulfill our purpose in life. Regardless which purpose each of us have, we influence each other in our thought, our action or reaction to the world. Hence, a sustainable and peaceful world can only be achieved if each of us understands how to create it for ourselves and for each other. And this does not only apply for our personal development. It applies for every aspect of life including the business side of it. MakeZen blog is therefore about my reflections, ideas, understandings of how to create balance in business organizations.

Goals of the blog

1. First of all, I want to share with you my reflections about social entrepreneurship and innovation. Secondly, I believe that the business world and the non-profit world have a lot to inspire and learn from each other in order to achieve a balanced and sustainable businesses/ organizations. Therefore I do also write advisory posts about different subjects that I think would be interesting for social entrepreneurs or anyone who is interesting in sustainable development. If you are interested in a collaboration with me, you are welcome to visit the “LotuSense Consult” page.

2. To provide inspirational stories of people who have changed their community etc. by making a profound social impact. My intention is to spread the knowledge of the work of people who have created a positive impact on our lives. I believe that if we focus on positive stories, the positive energy will spread!

My background

I’m a young woman in the beginning of 30s. My educational background is from the business world (BSc. in intercultural management and MSc. in innovation and business development). I have worked with Human Resources and organizational development, and business development in E-learning for children. I have been interesting in social entrepreneurship, Corporate Social Responsibility etc. in almost ten years. Even though my “tangible” skills are mostly derived from business world, my “intangible” skills are based on my own personal development; my experiences in dealing with challenges in life and the discovery of an inner strength that has taken me through the challenges. And with this journey I discovers a connection of all things. Hence, I would like to share with you the lessons or reflections about these issues that I have learn during the years. I hope you would enjoy reading them. If you have any opinions or reflections, please feel free to leave a comment or write to me at makezen (at) gmail dot com.

Cheers,

Julie

One Response to “About MakeZen”

  1. Julie and MakeZen team,

I just sent you an email about this.

Have you seen the latest new book and website project on social entrepreneurship? Would you be willing to blog or write about the new video we just released? Your blog “MakeZen” would be a perfect fit!

The Tactics of Hope: How Social Entrepreneurs Are Changing Our World

As the video demonstrates, the book has a companion website (www.TacticsofHope.org), introducing readers and activists to a cutting-edge new tool called “My Circle” to connect and engage with leading social entrepreneurs and resources that match your passions. See how it works – and read the endorsement from Bill Drayton and Desmond Tutu here:
